Alpha to coverage demo updated
Saturday, July 9, 2005 | Permalink
I added another option to the demo that allows magnified textures not to become blurry when using alpha-to-coverage or alpha-blend, but instead be equally sharp as alpha testing, but without the aliasing. Looks very good.

The NVIDIA demo that does Transparency AA is using D3D, whereas Humus is using GL. Is this the same thing though? Because the NVIDIA demo won't run in the Trans AA mode for me on my 6800 GT but Humus's GL demo runs perfectly. Maybe since NVIDIA's demo is D3D, it's only exposed in D3D with the GF 7 right now in drivers.

Maybe I didn't read it correctly but nVidia's transparency AA doesn't seem to be the same thing as this. (They talk about antialiasing alpha-tested things, not about conversion to coverage)

So, have you showed this to Catalys maker (Terry Makedon) over there at ATI?
Would be quite nice driver/hardware feature

I think terry already knows about this feature for a longer time as there is certain code which is needed in the drivers to make the d3d override work in the first place.
