New demo

A new demo arrives. Some cool water action.

The framework has seen some major changes under the surface too. I have added a console, which can be opened with the tab key by default. The console can't do a whole lot right now though, but you can at least set and get the viewer position and angles, and set the speed. I'll get more functionality into it. I've also brought the OpenGL side of things up to date, except I haven't implemented render targets in OpenGL yet. Hoping to see the famous über_buffers arrive soon.

does not render correctly...
but your screenshot looks very nice :-)
it's their driver, because they do not support any floatingpoint textures or rendertargets...

damn nv

G!ZMo,
It turns out I forgot to add a check to see if the render target was successfully created. On the GFFX it should just give an error on startup and exit since it couldn't create the render target, not just go ahead and try render it anyway. Anyway, I updated the file with the proper tests.

WOOT really runs nice on my r9700pro.
Anyone have any idea to reflect geometry on that water not just the cubemap? O_O

Beautiful demo... but somehow it managed to crash my computer (windoze xp pro) .. i lost no data and i wanted to go to bed anyway.. but i wondered how it could do this.

It ran fine for a while. (i have a 9600 pro with catalyst 3.7 drivers installed)

Black Knight,
while getting reflections from geometry directly is hard there's nothing keeping you from rendering the geometry around the water into a cubemap and use that. Should be a decent enough approximation for most cases.

I like this water demo a lot, its very smooth and realistic.

Could you please make it into a .scr or some sort of screensaver?
