New dynamic branching demo
Tuesday, April 25, 2006 | Permalink

There's a new demo showing off the benefits of dynamic branching. The demo should run on Radeon 9500 and up and GeForce FX and up, but performance improvements by enabling dynamic branching is only expected to happen on Radeon X1300 and up and possibly also GeForce 6 series and up (haven't tested) since earlier chips do not support this feature.

The shadows do not work on nvidia cards in linux (driver version 87.56) unless I change the depth of the render target from 16 to 24.

I've upload a new version. The shadows should work on nvidia now. I also improved dynamic branching performance a bit.

The demo works fine on my 6800 with OpenGL 2.0 and I think the latest nvidia drivers. I get a speed increase when dynamic branching and single pass rendering is enabled, but the demo runs at 60 fps most of the time on my machine without a either enabled.

You mean it's locked at 60fps? Do you have Vsync enabled?
