For dust thou art ...

... and unto dust shalt thou return.

In loving memory (1GB) of my Radeon HD 3870x2 who passed away this afternoon.

After suffering experimental code, beta SDKs and many driver resets for a long time, it finally couldn't handle it anymore. It walked many code paths that no one walked before.

It was 1.2 years old.
Rest in peace.

I didn't really knew the card, but I do know the many routines and shaders it saw first intimately and we could enjoy some time later.

I've added another ATI radeon graphics sticker to my case just to commemorate.

RMA in Peace

What ya think of the new Nvidia Quadro series? I haven't really looked into em yet.

As I mostly use Linux myself I mostly look to get Nvidia cards as I remember I had problems with the video drivers when first using Linux with an ATI Radeon card. Hmm, although things might be different now days.

I have new 9800gt 1gb w/ 3months old after my 8800gts dead. I don't know why 8800gts w/ 25 months old is dead despite never overclock but it's very probable the manufactures problems cause my 8800.
I don't get RMA because my 8800 doesn't warranty (only max 2 years).
if you do never overclock then you should get RMA.

yosh64, I have no particular opinion on the Quadros since I haven't ever touched one. I'm really not into the pro market.

Nuninho1980, the card I had was an engineering sample that I got for free from AMD, so I didn't exactly have a warranty on it.
