What I've been up to lately

Well, this essentially.

It's an odd feeling seeing something you've been working on for a quite a while finally making a public appearance. I'm glad to see it's been well received. It's not easy to judge your own work. It's a bit funny that whereas people leaving comments on the trailer might say "awesome" on the overall experience, my eyes easily get caught on visual flaws and unpolished details. But then I'm looking at these things on a daily basis. What's glaringly obvious to me is apparently not so obvious to the average viewer. As an exercise to the viewer, spot the bug between say 0:25 and 0:45.

On a related note, there's another Avalanche game out there called theHunter. I haven't blogged about it before, but it's actually been out there for a while, having had a soft release over the last few months. So while waiting for JC2 to arrive, give it a shot. It's actually for free. Here are a few of my own screenshots:

Hmm forget it, its probably just a zoomed in view.

sqrt[-1], bingo! Although I think it's more apparent in the scene right before it (0:35-0:37) where the sky color isn't quite natural and way too bright. That's the effect of clearing to the wrong color. My fault. (Although it's of course fixed now)

This bug with sky totally looks like bloom, eye doesn't catch it at all. I spent about 5 minutes to figure out, what do you mean )) Sky looks like sky - and that's all... After I noticed, that it's brighter, but for me, flying man is much more visible bug ))

What about the part at 0:18 where nothing is reflected in the water except sky...?

Jackis, you don't think Cyan sky as in 0:35 is somewhat unnatural? Bright is probably not something that you'd react on, but the color shift is pretty bad IMHO. But then again, the people putting this together apparently didn't see it either.
KBZ, there's more reflected than the sky, but the terrain is quite flat there. But look at the far left. The city, well. That's a TODO I guess.

Cyan??? I see only natural blue sky with white clouds! I'm watching WMV, not quicktime vid... Strange, may be, it's fixed somehow?

The game (JC2) looks promissing, but i hope that isn't as repetitive as the first one.

I think the bug would be the not-working alpha-blending on the trees at around 0:35.
